Keynote speakers
Christian Greuin, Head of Department for Technical and Vocational Education, CIEP
Christian GREUIN as the head of the TVET department of CIEP is a specialist in institution building, curricula development, evaluation of education system and needs analysis for educational reforms. At CIEP he is in charge of the design, implementation and management of technical assistance programmes and consultancy services in the field of TVET and of human resources development for emerging and developing countries. He is also in charge of supervising the projects resulting from the European framework for education and training and life long learning issues in close relation with the French ministry of education. A member of the higher council for international cooperation commission for TVET, to the prime minister‘ s services until 2008 and advisor of the national board of University Institutes of Technology Directors in international cooperation programmes, he has recently joined the working group for TVET of the French permanent representation at UNESCO.
Patrick Werquin
Patrick is an independent consultant based in Paris, and senior lecturer at the University of Neuchâtel. He is a member of the Centre d’études sociologiques et politiques Raymon Aron, EHESS. He was a senior economist with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Directorate for Education, from 1999 to 2010. He has a PhD in Economics. He contributed to many OECD publications on Adult Learning, Adult Literacy, Qualifications Systems and Framework, Recognition of Non-formal and Informal Learning. He is now working for the European Commission (DG EAC and GHK) on Lifelong Learning Policies, the Department of Education of Madeira (RVCC), the Moroccan Ministry of Education (survey on adult literacy) and the Kyoto School for the Promotion of Non-formal and Informal Learning.
Peter Hodgson, President of the European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training & Corporate Director, Norton Radstock College, UK
Peter is President of EfVET, The European Forum for Vocational Education and Training and Director of a VET College in the UK. He has over 25 years experience in management within the VET sector and works extensively within the European Education and Training arena from policy to practical implementation of reforms. His knowledge and experience lies in the development of VET and lifelong learning at all levels. As President of EfVET he has the capacity to represent the voice of over 1500 member institutions across Europe. Peter is also active on the Executive of EUCIS – the European Civil Society Platform for Lifelong Learning.
Liisa Lofman, IDOLearn project co-ordinator
Liisa has a PhD in Linguistics and is adjunct professor (Tampere University). She has worked for the major part of her career as Director of the National and local University Language Centres, and as Director of International Education in the National Centre for Professional Development in Education. She has 30 years’ experience in management and leadership, teaching and research of languages for special purposes, intercultural communication, international cooperation, and in
education programme design, in which fields she has also published extensively. She specialises in finding innovative
Paula Mattila
Paula Paula Mattila holds a Licentiate degree in Education. She has worked in several positions within international education, such as Head of International Activities in Laurea Polytechnic. Presently she is Counsellor of Education with the Finnish National Board of Education where her duties include administration of State Grants for Internationalisation of basic and upper secondary education and work with the Agency’s foreign languages and curriculum development teams. Her main professional interest focuses on developing and expanding the concepts and practice regarding internationalisation in schooling.
Conference Aims
The conference will showcase the outcomes of the IDOLearn European Commission funded project which seeks to recognise and validate informal and non-formal learning for those working on international activities. These outcomes will be set in the context of their contribution towards international development. There will be a mix of knowledge sharing, debate and networking opportunities for all participants.
